Edinburgh, Glasgow: Scotland.

Scotland is situated on the northwest of Great Britain. Its population it’s around 5 million people less than the half number of inhabitants in Rio Grande do Sul. Scotland’s area is also much smaller than our state is. RS is 3.6 times bigger than Scots nation. This peoples’ culture is vast and rich. But unfortunately not many individuals have the chance to get to know in details. To present the deeply isn’t my aim, my purpose with this content is just give you a taste.Edinburgh’s the Capital city since 1492. It’s one of the most significant financial centers in Europe. Although it isn’t the most populated and important city in Scotland. This responsibility belongs to Glasgow which has 41% of Scotland’s population and which is the third most populated city in United Kingdom. In a comparison to a known place Edinburgh is a bit bigger than Pelotas. There are about 50.000 more people living in Edinburgh than in our city. However, Edinburgh has a lot to offer in matter of tourism. You can visit an innumerous amount of museums and art galleries. Such the Museum of Childhood or the Museum of War. As you can notice the city has an immense range of choices. During a regular humid day you can enjoy the climate that goes around 0° degrees to 6° on winter (or even less) or 10° to 20° on summer. A pleasant condition to explore everything that Edinburgh has to provide.As well as the nation’s Capital Glasgow has great tourist attractions. Pubs are all around the city. At night you’re able to go touring at as many as you want to. It’s an excellent opportunity to socialize with Scottish people. It’s well known that they enjoy drinking. And it’s well known too that generally Europeans are quite reserved folks. So this is the right moment to make some friends abroad. Apart from this you can also stopover at art galleries and museums. The Museum of Bagpipes is a fine way to get in touch with Scottish’s musical culture. If you want to be surrounded by nature go to the Green Park and have fun walking in a sunny morning. The climate is also humid and cold. But the beauty makes the sacrifice worth.Back to Scotland’s story. Scottish’s economy is based on textile works and agricultural works but it’s recognized mainly by the production of Whisky . The country is commanded by the parliament. The first minister is Alex Salmond. Until nowadays Picts – this is how the first inhabitants were called- keep their traditions alive. Men and women still wearing kilts on special days. Each family has a different pattern. So each clan can be differentiated. One other curiosity is that some people still believe that there’s a monster living in a lake called Ness. It’s a very famous story. But I bet you didn’t know that is a Scottish story. As I said already Scotland’s is a great option to know better.One other interesting thing to us English students is that some “experts” say that the Scottish accent is one of the most hard to understand. Talking to a native will make us feel insecure because accordingly to those researchers we’ll be able to understand just 20% of Scottish speech. Personally I don’t agree. And more I think Scottish and Irish accents very pretty.
Before I forget just an extra information that I think is relevant Scottish motto is: In my defens God defend me. This phrase shows the contry's religion.

  3. Hii Aline!! Very well done! =D
    Your text is really very good!
    Well organized, a good structure and coherent!

    And I found some little mistakes on your text:
    *[Men and women still wearing..] -> [Men and women are still wearing..]
    *[As I said already..] -> [As I already said..]
    *[Scotland’s is a great option..] -> [Scotland's a great option..]
    *[And more I think Scottish and Irish accents very pretty.] -> [And more I think Scottish and Irish accents are very pretty.]
    *[I think is relevant Scottish motto..] -> [I think is relevant in Scottish motto..] (I'm not sure about that)
    *[In my defens God defend me.] -> [In my defense God defends me.]

    I hope you like my "corrections" and if I'm wrong in some of them tell me later ;)
    Kisses and hugs!

    (Ahh I loved the picture) ^^
